Q: Do I have to race?
A: No you do not have to race. The club is focused on exposing everyone to the wonderful world of mountain bikes. At the same time if you want to race you can race. Everyone gets to race if they want to and everyone’s effort helps support the club as a whole.
Q: When are practices?
A: Practices are held most weeks on Monday, Wednesday and Friday Evenings. There are occasionally practices on the weekends for special events or before races to pre-ride the courses. The TeamSnap app is used for every rider to know exactly when and where practice will be.
Q: Where is practice?
A: Practices are usually held at local trailheads in the galena area: Whites Creek, Thomas Creek, Galena Park, Callahan Park, etc. There are also times when practice will be held further up the hill to get out of the heat on trails like: Sky Tavern, Tamarack Lake, Incline flume, Tahoe Meadows, TRT, etc.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: The club is $100 for team dues. This can be paid after you register on the TeamSnap app. There are also registration fees for the Nevada league (which now includes each race). The 2024 Student fees between April 1st – May 31st : $335, between June 1st – October 20th: $350. You can go to the Nevada League web page to register for races.
Q: Do I have to have a special kind of bike to be on the club?
A: No. You need a mountain bike that is in good working condition. It can be a hard tail or full suspension. The coaches can help you with repairs and adjustments or they will point you towards a local bike shop that supports the Galena MTB club.
